Feedback from the sector’s major players in Luxembourg
On December 21, 2007, Luxembourg passed the law 5801 granting an 80% tax rebate on all forms of income derived from domain names, such as advertising income from domain parking, domain name sale and rental, and royalties.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for DOMAINERS and for e-commerce, both in Luxembourg and worldwide” says Xavier Buck, chief executive officer of EuroDNS. “With more than 100 billion euros of transactions in 2007, the market for domain names has never been as attractive” comments Paul Keating, a leading US attorney based in Barcelona, specialising in domain names evaluation and protecting leading REGISTRARS and DOMAINERS.
“Luxembourg was already known internationally as a strong base for internet-related business,” adds chartered international financial consultant Roger Greden. “Since the new law was passed, it’s become an ideal platform for players in this new and fast-growing industry. Luxembourg offers an ideal fiscal environment for their revenue and earnings.”
