Softwares
The legal regime on softwares has been enacted in Luxembourg by the law dated 18 April 2001. Pursuant to this law, to benefit from the protection of copyrights any software should be an original work,that is, an intelectual creation from a creator and it should have taken shape.
Copyright attached to softwares exist by the simple creation of such software. The proof of the date of creation of such software can be given by any means and more especially by introducing an i-registration at the OBPI (Office Benelux de la Propriété Intelectuelle). Such registration however remains an optional means of proof.
Luxembourg legal regime on softwares is also made of the dispositions contained in the Convention de Berne on copyright to which Luxembourg has been a signing counterpart.
